My husband bought me a gift certificate for my 40th birthday for a facial and massage. I arrived a little early and they had me fill out forms and I waited about 20 minutes before going in for my 1 hour facial. She spent about 40 minutes on me (not aware until after I left). The massage was great and she used the full time. The facial person was a bit snippy and told me all the things I was doing wrong to my skin (I believe I have lovely skin). Next time I went back, I told the story to a very lovely facial person, and she told me that person had since been fired. They need to do a much better job screening their employees. A very nice spa otherwise although those are the only services I've had there. Not cheap though.

Pros: Some very friendly and experienced staff

Cons: Some staff, not so great

I went to the Green Tangerine In South Windsor a few weeks ago... I was kinda shocked when i saw the reviews but was recommended by a friend of mine. I arrived early for my appointment and was greeted very nicely. They were very accomodating to me being early. The stylist was ready for me as soon as i sat down. I usually have a hard time getting exactly what i want with my hair and knew it could be hard for the stylist.... I let her know that color usually takes very different when applied to my head. She was very confident when i told her my situation which made me feel very confident. All said and done.. my hair came out better than I imagined. She really captured exactly what I was thinking for my color and gave me a great cut. I've always been scared to cut it shorter but its amazing!!! Despite all the negative reviews I read I believe Green Tangerine has the talent and professionalism that I look for in a GREAT salon. I will def. be coming back for my hair and also to try some spa services. Everyone there was awesome!!!

Pros: GREAT TALENT.... SERVICE WAS GREAT ALL AROUND

Cons: NONE!

I have gotten my hair cut & colored several times here... and when it comes to my hair, I am a tough-to-please customer. I went once in a pinch with no plans of leaving my usual salon but was hooked. Maria is amazing! I also have gotten a massage there. The massage therapist was very knowledgable and did a great job. Just like with my hair, I know a good massage from a bad one. I highly recommend this salon!

I've been to the Green Tangerine a few times when just shopping around. I scheduled a facial there once and it was a great experience. I have to say that the bad reviews shocked me a little so I decided to pay some attention. My husband and I went in before Easter and I wanted color while he wanted a cut. We were both greeted, our coats were taken, and we were asked if we wanted a drink (coffee, tea, water). Then our stylists came to get us and there the experiences started to differ. I had someone who finally got it right. The color was perfect and after I asked if she had time for a trim. She said she was hoping I'd say that and I told her I needed something new. I have never gotten so many compliments after leaving a salon as I did that day. I'll admit it's a little more pricy than some other salons I've been to but for me it was worth it, plus your paying for the spa experience. My husband on the other hand had a woman who didn't really listen to him and who gave him one of the worst haircuts he's had, and I cut his hair myself once. I would suggest the salon to everyone I know, with a little word of warning. If you feel that someone isn't doing what you want, speak up. They have a variety of people working there and I think they might benefit from personal reviews to wean out the people who make it a less than pleasant experience. If you do go... I highly recommend Beth. I'll be going back to her soon for a touch up and trim. I'll continue to return to them for most of my services. I love Aveda products, and I've been lucky with the staff so far.

Pros: The products and most of the staff make it a great experience.

Cons: Some of the staff can make it an uncomforterable experience.

I went to Green Tangerine this Saturday, and I love my hair!!! I have never felt like a stylist really understood and listened to me as much as Karen did this Saturday. I get blond highlights on a regular basis, but I felt like I needed something slightly different and an updated cut, and Karen exceeded my expectations. The receptionists at the desk were friendly and helpful, and the salon itself is beautiful. Karen took me right on time, and the shampoo chairs were amazing. The products Karen used and recommended really made a difference on my hair, and in general I just love the color and cut!! I will recommend Green Tangerine to all my friends!

Pros: great stylst, friendly staff, beautiful location

Cons: none!

I went to Green Tangerine to get my haircut and colored, despite the reviews I read on citysearch. I'm glad I did! The girl at the front desk was great and offered to take my coat and gave me a great cup of coffee. Erin was so nice and listened to what I wanted and actually gave it to me. I love my hair!

Pros: really nice staff

Yesterday I went to the Green Tangerine Spa in South Windsor for the first time. I was very pleased with my full color and cut although $170 is A LOT of money to me for a cut and color. The hair dresser was very nice and expressed the need of a good shampoo and conditioner for my hair. I usually use Redken Color Care products but she said these products were not good and I should get the Kerastase line to protect the color in my hair. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would cost over $100 for shampoo, conditioner and treatment. I was in shock when I went to pay but just paid and left. After leaving the salon I started to feel really guilty about spending $289 for my hair which is way above my budget. Anyway I called the salon today (less then 24 hours) after leaving yesterday to ask if there was anyway I could return the product and I was told no. I guess I learned my lesson the hard way and although I love my hair cut and color I am upset. I am upset because after I left the salon I got on the internet to see what was so special about Kerastase and found that it is part of the L'Oréal group of companies, which includes Lancôme, Redken, Garnier, Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani, Biotherm, Kérastase, and Vichy, as well as L'Oréal. If Redken is part of this group what is so bad about the Redken product that I was using that is more in my price range? Additionally, I went on the website for reviews about Green Tangerine Spa in South Windsor and saw 4 bad reviews. Had I read the reviews I would not have gone. Although I liked my cut and color there was NO hot water to wash my hair and the girl had to wash it in COLD water. For the amount of money that I paid I don't see how the Salon could not have hot water to wash our hair. Nice hairsylist cut and color but not happy with cold water (not her fault) and price of products.

Pros: trendy location

Cons: too expensive

I had a consult on my hair at Green Tangerine before I even had them cut my hair. I have naturally curly hair and it is important that it is done correctly. I explained that I like long exaggerated layers cut forward in to an A frame and showed her a picture. She said she knew exactly what I was talking about. The first hair cut was a success. She left the sides alone just as I asked. The second hair cut was a disaster. My bottom layers were short. The crown of my hair was left long. My sides were angled. I went back with in a few weeks to have it corrected. She sat me down telling me that we had to talk. I felt threatened. She told me that my hair grows to fast and that if I wanted it cut, I would have to pay. I told her I needed my hair cut again and that what I got was not what I wanted. I told her again how I needed to have my hair styled. She cut my layers two to three inches shorter and left the top long again. And worse yet, my sides are cut off! I feel like I have a mullet!!! This in not what I wanted. I simply wanted her to cut my hair like I asked. I did nothing to cause her to treat me in such a fashion. I spent $120.00 to be mistreated. On top of that she was trying to sell me products. She told me that my hair won't do what I want until I get products. This is such nonsence and is very unprofessional! I gave them a chance to make things right. SAVE YOUR HAIR! DO NOT GO THERE!!!

Cons: Hair dressers do what they want. They do not listed to clients.

I wanted to pamper myself at GreenTangerine because of my 30th birthday coming up. I called 3 days in advance and scheduled a full set acrylic. When I got to GreenTangerine the gentleman at the front desk was very kind. He directed me to a young lady to get my nails done. The lady began to file my chewed up nails and removed my cuticles and then asked me to pick a nail color. I thought it was too soon but I did anyways. Once I realized she was going to polish my nails. I asked her "are you aware i want a full set?" she said to me "You're kidding right" and I said "NO I made an appt. 3 days in advanced" She then went ahead and told me that a lady that works there took the whole "Nail Kit" HOME with her!!! So therefore, she wasn't gonna be able to do my nails. I couldn't believe it!! Who takes the nail kit home!!!! Especially if your at a Nail/Spa Salon!! What if you have walk-ins ..?

Pros: The products

Cons: Horrible Customer Service..

On May 18th, 2007, I visited an Aveda Salon/Spa called "Green Tangerine" in South Windsor, CT. I did not have a scheduled appointment, I simply wanted to browse through the store to find some shampoo or moisturziers. When I walked into the store, it was about 9:00p. When I walked into the store, I saw a young woman who was attending the front desk; she did not greet me with a smile or even a hello; in fact, she did not even acknowledge me. As I walked in, she looked up and then looked downand continued to type away at her computer. I proceeded to browse in the salon for 15 minutes or so. At no point during that time did anyone ask me if they could help me find anything or offer me any advice on products. After I had picked up my products, I walked over to the woman to pay. She did not acknowledge me at all, she rougly took my items and began to scan them. She told me the total and told me grab a pen and sign the receipt. I asked her if I could use my Aveda Advantage points here and she grabbed my card and swiped it. I have never had such a horrible customer service experience at Aveda. I was introduced to Aveda because I once wandered into a store and had a lovely young woman come over and tell me about Aveda shampoos. It was then that I became a fan of your store. However, my experience at this Aveda store was uncalled for and very unprofessional. I would suggest that you at least greet your customer, regardless of what time it is, with at least a slight smile to make them feel welcome. I will no longer be shopping at that Aveda salon again. I normally do not take the time to write letters such as these. However, I was so disappointed with the service I received, I believed it was necessary.

Pros: Smells good, waterfall in the back is pretty

Cons: Customer service is horrendous.
