Amazing Spanish Food
by js810
Costa Del Sol is a consistently excellent restaurant. We went once a few years ago, and this year during Hartford's restaurant week. This year, we had the empanada and sausage appetizers, which were indescribably good. Same for the paella we split. I even liked the rice pudding, which usually I don't care for. To top it off, the sangria is perfect. It's expensive, but well worth the cost. Go!
- Pros: Food, ambience, service
- Cons: Parking can be a little hard to find
Wonderful atmosphere

On our way to a concert in Hartford, my son and I noticed Costa Del Sol and stopped. Not having reservations, I was concerned we could not be accommodated. However, we were seated promptly and found the wait staff to be friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very clean, and the atmosphere relaxed and amicable. The food itself was extraordinary! The seafood I had was not over cooked and very moist and flavorful. My son had a steak which he claimed was very well prepared and one of the best he had ever eaten. Being a chef himself, I took his word for it! This is a restaurant I would highly recommend to friends.

The Scene
Unwind to Spanish guitar music and Old-World serenity at this neighborhood restaurant. Green pillars with fanciful capitals; tall, small-paned windows; sand-colored stucco walls; and a mural of beaches, palms and gaily painted boats transport diners to Spain.
The Food
Hot appetizers include artfully arranged piquillo peppers stuffed with chunky codfish and spinach then drizzled with smooth, salty red pepper sauce. Shrimp sauteed with olive oil and transparent garlic filets, sweet paprika and white wine arrive sizzling in shallow earthenware casseroles. Serrano ham drapes over Catalonian garlic bread topped with slices of tomato, garlic and fresh green herbs. Garlicky salsa verde glazes plump, pan-seared sea scallops nestled in al dente linguini. Diners shell clams and mussels in the bubbling tomato-broth casserole swimming with squid, shrimp, scallops and fish, accented by fragrant saffron rice. House-made desserts include dense cheesecake in a puddle of sweet orange liquor sauce and crema catalana, a loose custard with a crisp crust.

Appetizers were absolutely delicious. Food incredibly clean and tasty. Don't remember what wine we had, but it was so good we couldn't resist ordering a second bottle (for 3 of us). The service as well was impeccable. My parents never like trying new restaurants, but they were floored.
