Recently reopened under new management, Completely refurbished,Something for everyone
by sanfranal
If you haven't been to Coach's since they reopened in September 2006, then you haven't been to the NEW Coach's. They recently reopened under new management and they have completely refurbished the inside. I had been to the old Coach's and was eager to try it again. It was great! I went for lunch and returned another time for supper. It's not just a sports bar anymore, but now seems to cater to all tastes. The food was better than ever and the honey hot chicken tenders were the best. The menu looked like it had something for everyone, and the wait staff really wanted you to feel welcome. They tell me that on Sunday's they have every football game on a different plasma TV. It sounds like it's going to be a great combo of good restaurant, sports bar and nightclub depending upon when you go, with something for everyone coming into Hartford.
- Pros: Great variety of wings, Something for all ages
Ohhh, Coach Jim owns this bar
by bblhed
The olny real draw of this pilce is that the Ucon Coach owns it. If you want to hang out with drunk college kids this is the place. If you have a job and a few dollars in your pocket you would be better off to take yourself someplace eles. The food is average for a place of this type at best, and the drinks are not much better. Also don't think that you are going to get to hang out with your favorite Uconn player here because the really good players know that this place gets raided. If you are looking to talk at dinner, or to take the kids under 21, don't even bother.
This is a sports bar like any other sports bar in any other college town with a local college theme. Problem is that Uconn is 30 miles from this place.
- Pros: Good for the over 21, Uconn theme
- Cons: NO ONE UNDER 21, Loud, Geared for under 21
Wings Better than Huskies
by Godzuki24
The only thing that really impressed me about Coach's were the Honey Hot wings. They're "award winning" according to the menu. What I can say is that they were the best thing we had. The BBQ was bad, the Turkey Club was bad, the Fries were out of a bag crinkle cuts (c'mon, a sports bar that can't make the effort to cut potatoes?!?!), the onion rings were ok. The service was fine, but slow and the TV locations are great in some places, terrible in others. NCAA Tourney time, they should know how to run a better show. Wings GREAT, otherwise this place is OVER RATED, just like the Huskies (Men's team at least).
- Pros: Wings
This UConn-crazy sports bar lures crowds with live music, video games and plenty of food and booze.

The Scene
Huskies fan? If not, keep it quiet. Jim Calhoun, UConn's basketball coach, owns the place. Thirty televisions broadcast sports and trivia around booths and a massive bar. Think the call was horrible? So do the 500 people jammed inside these memorabilia-covered walls. With pool, video games and live music, everybody wins--even if they're not sports fans.
The Draw
There's plenty of beer on tap, including Bud, Miller, Sam Adams and a few local brands. All the usual hard stuff and a selection of wines are also available. Finger foods like nachos, wings and chicken tenders satisfy post-game munchies. Don't have tickets? Order a burger and watch the game here. There's not a bad seat in the house.

overrated unless the uconn teams in town. otherwise the tvs are in awkward locations depending on where your sitting!
What about the Brickyard Cafe
by Jaxson_D_Ville
What about the brickyard cafe? That place has an upstairs sports bar unrivaled in all of CT. Maybe it has closed since i moved to florida or is only open at night- but go there. No trip to hartford is complete without one night at the 'yard. Always met hotties there. Jazz club on the 1st floor, disco on the second and a huge, huge sports, pool, arcade environment on top. Too bad they took out the hoops court. Go Huskies
IT'S ALL GOOD!!!
