Decent but will not use again.. The work performed I can only assume was good. Workers although polite and courteous never went up on roof to inspect anything or clean from the top down as stated on Safe sides Homepage for that matter. And after all was said and done I was informed of a blockage that needed to be removed. I was told that the blockage was round and necked down pretty tight.

When I asked to see it they stated that you couldn't see it but that the brushes would not pass thru and it all needed to be chipped away.

When asked how much extra the worker stated that it needed to be d blocked and would cost me an extra $280. I stated I could not pay that at which time the worker said he would lower the price and not charge me taxes.

I asked how long it would take and was told about 45 minutes or so. Well about 15 minutes later the worker conveniently shows up with a piece of stone material that he couldn't tell where it came from but was sure it had fallen down the flute and is what was causing my blockage. I reluctantly paid for the service and took it as a lesson learned but will be getting someone else to come out and verify what was found in the chimney.

So ask when making an appointment how much these extra charges are gonna cost and do your research first.

Leaking Chimney

I've had a bad experience.... Update: I am pleased to update this to say that Safe side came through. They sent mike roundvto fix the chimney and for the first time in 6 months it has stopped leaking. Mike was very apologetic and even fixed my front step!

While it had taken a very long time and a lot of angst to get here, I am now pleased with the result.

I rarely write reviews on these things but I feel like I should share my story of this terrible company as it seems very similar to that of JBL2 listed only a few weeks ago.

I have been working with Safeside Chimney now for months. I chose them based on the reviews on this site and have never been more disapointed. When I bought my house in 2010, I was assured by the previous owner that the chimney leak had been fixed.

After having my room replastered I noticed that the leak continued so I called safeside.

I paid several thousand dollars for a new chimney to be built. The leak got worse to the point of a steady stream of water coming through where as before it was a lot less. I then paid another $900 for the flashing to be done. Again the leak continued.

Each workman that comes round tells us that the job wasn't done properly the last time they did it.

The chimney is still leaking and so before Christmas I made an appointment for their best person to come round today to fix it again! Given I gave them 3 weeks notice, I am floored that they have now canceled today's appointment and are unsure when they will be able to come round. I am waiting for a call from the top manager there to see what they are going to do about it and if they fix it tomorrow, I will happily eat my words.

Their customer service person has been very helpful and apologetic but apologies only get you so much credit - jobs of this cost should be done properly!

Update - Received a phonecall that someone would be out on January 2 between 9.30 and 10.30, that was then changed last minute to the same time on Dec 31. Waited all day and surprise surprise, no one showed up on either day.

I will now be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau.

Tim Taylor of SafeSide refuses to help customers. SafeSide came to my home to fix a leak in the flashing. They have been to my home over three times and it still leaks. Tim Taylor refuses to return my calls and Dale simply takes my phone number and say "He will call you back". Avoid this company.
