I’m doing a really long over due review of Salon Alexander.. I didn’t know how to quite express my dissatisfaction and still try and make it tasteful but now I’m at the point where I don’t really care.. I first heard about Salon Alexander from the hair show that the owner, Ashley Stone was on “hair battle spectacular” or something like that.. I became obsessed with the avant gaurde fashion and just HAD to go to that salon.



First off, upon walking in- it’s a complete aisle of Target! Nothing special, no personal touches, literally I could point to everything that was purchased at Target.. Because I myself am a Target addict but in a salon? Come on.. but more effort into it than that.



The mood of the salon is so monotone, so structured.. there was only one stylist that actually took the time to greet me, listen to me and give me the end result that I craved.. but surprise, surprise she no longer works there much to my dismay. I have had different appointments with 3 separate stylists, including the owner Ashley before staying with my old stylist that no longer works there.. I was expecting a miracle after hearing all about Ashley’s work and her background.. but that was all heresy, after going to her I really began to dig deep and she’s at best an average stylist who just happens to own her own salon.. which anyone can do- if you save up enough or get a nice bank loan. I have never met someone so self absorbed such as Ashley.. she never listened to what kind of highlights I wanted, she never asked how my day was ( I mean being a stylist MEANS small talk that’s just what you do) NOTHING. I even signed my credit card slip and I didn’t get a THANK YOU only a “have a good day”! You can tell that she really only cares about money and her looks.. the way she would talk to her staff was UNEXCUSEABLE I always felt so bad for them. I have at least 30 years on this young woman.. so I suppose I have to remember she’s a young lady that really doesn’t understand the ins and outs of owning a business. There has to be a course on customer service somewhere.. She talks a big game but her performance does not add up. She also recently won the RAW award for Best Stylist for 2012 but she won by default because she was the only one to show up!



Please save your money (and believe me it IS expensive) and shop around elsewhere.. I wish I did.. now that I found out where my old stylist is I will be sure to follow- as I know this was a review based on my experience of Salon Alexander and it was a one sided review as it was mostly geared towards the owner, but I believe she “is” Salon Alexander and she has a lot of lessons to learn- it’s not all about you, and treat others how you would want to be treated. I hope nobody else has to experience my horror.

my hair is ruined. this salon is close to home so i decided to try it out. worst mistake ever. i asked the stylist, claire, for ideas and she had none! was utterly clueless. i receved a color and cut-the color is brassy and uneven and the cut is horrible! my head looked lopsided, as one side was so noticebly longer than the other, there were randon pieces just chopped-an absolute disaster. do not let this woman touch your hair!

Best Salon. I have been looming for a good salon for so long and I had gotten a groupon and went there and I just love it. Claire is the best. I love the way she does my hair. I will never leave that salon. Love it!

Highly Recommended. I used to cut my hair on my own for about 5 years because I had a history of horrible haircuts from other salons in the past. I had lost trust in hair stylists because everytime I would leave the salon, I'd be either disappointed or upset, so needless to say, I figured I could do a better job and at least have no one but myself to blame.

After some time though, I started getting bored with the "plain-Jane" style and then I met Salon Alexander stylist Kayle through a mutual friend, who noticed I had cut my hair unevenly in the back. She had a vision, and promised me she could give me an affordable haircut that I would love, if I just gave her the chance. My hair is kind of "my thing" because it's a unique color and from having several bad haircuts in the past, I wasn't sure I could trust ANYONE to touch it, but after getting to know Kayle on a personal level, and seeing what a FABULOUS job she did on my Mom's hair, I realized I would be in good hands (literally).

I am so so so so so (did I say so?) happy I decided to trust Kayle because she transformed my dull, boring hairdo into a star-quality style! I had found a picture of a celebrity's haircut I loved and asked her to give me the same cut--and what I got was exactly that! There isn't a day that goes by that someone doesn't compliment me on my haircut, seriously! It makes me feel like a million bucks, and she get's it right everytime! I am EXTREMELY picky and Kayle takes the extra time to make sure it looks perfect without making me feel like I am holding her up. I can tell her exactly what I want and she will listen to my decisions every step of the way, and without judgment. She actually encourages feedback and prefers her clients to speak up if they want something maybe a little shorter, or feathered, or whatever. There was one point when I couldn't decide how I wanted a portion of my hair cut and she gave me suggestions and really made me feel like I could trust her with what she was going to do, and it was worth it!

I also enjoy going to Kayle as a stylist because she's easy and fun to talk to--it's never awkward--and yet she remains professional. You can really tell hairdressing is her passion, and from what I've seen, she's also an excellent makeup artist.

As a whole, the salon is always offering many discount incentives and fun promotions that really encourage new and old clients to come back, and they are reasonably priced for the quality of service they provide.

I highly recommend using Salon Alexander for your next beauty need! I always feel beautiful when I walk out of there!

Awesome salon!. I loved coming here. I was searching for a new salon and happened upon their website. I noticed they serviced curly hair clients and looked into their services. It sounded promising so I made my appointment with kayle. My hair came out amazing. No other salon has been able to get my hair to work like she did. It felt like I had been going for years and I felt super comfortable here.

Ive recommended this place to many of my friends and I plan on making another appointment soon for another hair service.

Connecticut's best salon, is in Newington. Salon Alexander is by far, the best hair salon I have ever found. I am 44 years old and for the last 5 to 6 years have been searching for a new hair stylist and salon close to home. Although if I had to, I would drive across the state to get to this salon.!!!

All of the stylists that are there are very personable, professional and really do listen to you, the customer.

I have found a stylist for life in Kayle S. She is young, up to date with current styles and knows her craft very well.!

I VERY HIGHLY recommend going to Salon Alexander in Newington, CT.!! You won't be disappointed.

Best Stylist, best atmosphere, best hospitality. I've been going to Salon Alexander since it's opening in Newington. Since I had been a client of Kayle's since she was in hairdressing school and so enjoyed both her skills and ease of conversation during my visits I followed her to Salon Alexander.

What I found was a welcoming group of stylists that are friendly and accommodating. I've seen the salon evolve with many special events and realized how committed the owner is to making this the best salon in CT.

My own experience with Kayle will keep me as a client for many years to come. Believe me when I say she's a doll -- she listens to what you want and delivers!! Hair is so important to help with self-esteem and let me tell you I feel like a million dollars walking out the salon door after each visit.

If you are looking for a new salon because you have been disappointed in the past, look no further contact Salon Alexander -- you won't be sorry!!

The BEST Salon!. I have always been very particular about how I want my hair cut/colored. Living in NYC I had tried several overpriced salons, only to come out in tears because the stylists did what they wanted and not what I wanted. As per a friend’s recommendation, I went to see Ashley and have continued to go to her for years now. Ashley is truly great at what she does! I now trust her opinion as to what she thinks will look good. Aside from being talented, Ashley is friendly, trendy, accommodating and professional.

I highly recommend Salon Alexander. The girls will take good care of you and make you feel great about the way you look.

Such a great salon!. I've been going to Ashley for years and I am so happy that she has a place in Newington so close to my house. She is the best! The Salon is so nice and upscale. It is a treat everytime I go in!

Best Salon in CT. LOoooOVeee this place!! The girls are very friendly and really current on what's fasionable. I switched to this salon from another top salon and Salon Alexander is much better!! They also run a lot of specials and promos along with drawings for free makeovers. They also have tanning (even though I have never tanned). Highly recommended for any age or style!!
