So many better choices for Japanese.
I have to go here at least once a year because my in-laws love the food....the ironic thing is, they hate Japanese food. This sent up a red flag the first year, and apparently for good reason.
The most recent visit was on September 12, 2008. I have to agree with another review on here, the hibachi area is so loud it is impossible to have a conversation and the waitresses have a real attitude with you if they can't hear you right away. The food from the hibachi is totally run-of-the-mill and the soup and salad they bring to start you off are not the traditional miso soup and ginger dressing; it is a strange chicken broth that I didn't even finish because it was so tasteless and then a mayo-based dressing, almost like a french. Did not get you in the spirit for Japanese at all.
My husband ordered spicy tuna roll and crab roll last time we were there; he has been to Japan many times and sushi is one of his favorite foods. He found the spicy tuna to taste like it had gone bad, and he couldn't eat it. When he told the waitress, she basically said, "Well, we sell a lot of spicy tuna, so..." and then walked away. About ten minutes later, a manager came, and said the same thing, basically arguing with my husband about whether it was bad or not. They finally agreed to bring him something else, which my husband didn't finish because at that point he didn't trust the food.
I have worked in restaurants in front and back of house my whole life and I was stunned at how poorly the problem was handled. If a customer is dissatisfied, you make it right without arguing, even if you disagree. I have found that my sister and law liked to go there with her friends because they don't card, and the vast majority of people I see when I go are young and at the hibachi, or at the bar. Now I know how they make money.
Dissapointed...................
First of all, the hibachi grill room was waaaaay too loud. It was like being at a bachelor party. They should have at least a door or have it in an enclosed room like some other Japanese places. The waitress could not hear our order and instead of being compassionate she got annoyed of us. The atmosphere was nice but clearly doe snot overshadow the horrible service and noise.
The food was standard, the Pad Thai was not memorable and sushi combinations were bland and boring.
Worst of all the desert cheesecake was not the one advertised on the menu and was FROZEN!
Clearly there has been little care from management and even less respect for cuisine.
For such a hype, I was utterly disappointed.
Best food!. Great ambiance! Has a family feel to it. I love that when I come in everyone knows my name and the owner usually has my drink waiting for me. The food is always fresh and very tasty! The sushi bar is just as fun as the hibachi tables. Friday nights are sometimes very busy and the wait is long but other then that I love this restaurant and it is worth the wait. I would recommend it to everyone and I do.
