Average. Went here for valentines day after reading so many good reviews. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of their menu items. Ordered lady dance (shrimp) for an appetizer, and although they had a great flavor I could tell that they had been cooked prior to order and grilled when an order came in. I could tell because of how tough they were to eat and they came out within a minute of ordering them. The main entree came out very quickly afterwords. The first thing i noticed was how large the vegetables had been cut, about 3/4" wide, I had to cut the vegetables in order to fit them into my mouth. The seasoning was good but lacked intensity. The noodles were seasoned but the vegetables and tofu appeared to be cooked separately and added on on top/mixed in after. Overall, it was decent, but I probably wouldn't go back unless I had a coupon or something.
Good Thai food. Stopped here on my through Hartford, CT. Quite good food. Fast service. Wait staff was friendly and always ready with refill or to answer questions. Food had quite good flavor. I would return to this restaurant.
Best Thai I've ever had, great service. I have been here several times, I was so excited when a Thai place came to my area. I have never had anything less than a five-star experience, I have gone for dinner and lunch, and each time I had a different waitress but they were all sweet, helpful, and gave great recommendations on what to get. My favorite dish by far has been the mango curry shrimp, it was a little spicy with a fragrant sauce, the shrimp were deep-fried and crunchy, and the mango was fresh, sliced, and at perfect ripeness. Amazing.
I'm not a Thai expert, but this was good!.
I went with my wife around 7 on a Friday night on a whim and we loved our experience. The decor inside was very nice despite the less than impressive outside appearance. We ordered our food after much contemplation, receiving excellent advice and patience from the service. The food came out faster than it took to order! Everything tasted great, definitely no complaints in the taste department.
I highly recommend this establishment to anyone that is looking for an excellent Asian meal with great service in central CT and has thus far come up empty handed.
Honest, humble, good food.. The appearance had me second guessing the place. They need to really show the world that they are there because this stuff is good. We got the pad Thai and the panang curry. You can tell this is authentic Thai food and is not another Thai-Chinese knock off. There has been so many of those now a days. It was so refreshing to taste real Thai food. This place is a real gem, but I had to tell the world so they can get more customers and stay open forever, I think most people would enjoy it, they just need to try it first. We were hesitant at first but it was a pleasant surprise. I am now a regular.
Best Thai Food I've ever had..
This is by far the best Thai food I've ever eaten.
You'd never tell it from the outside, but this restaurant is a gem. The indoor ambiance, layout, design, etc., is all great and makes for a peaceful and delicious meal. The service was prompt and friendly, prices are very reasonable, and most importantly, the food is great!
Try their curries. I dare you to. They're so good.
I'll definitely make it back to this place in the near future.
Wow..
Shelwel was right on. This place is great. I brought a group of five from work. We ordered ahead so that it would be ready when we got there. Much to my surprise, the moment we were seated the dished started coming out the kitchen door and not one order was incorrect. Everyone got something different:
Mango Curry with Chicken
Chicken Lunch combo with Vegetables and Peanut Sauce w/ rice
Pork Spicy Basil Fried Rice
Pad Thai
Tamarind Duck
Panang Curry - Veggie & Tofu
Everything looked, smelled, and most importantly tasted great. The service staff was very attentive and friendly.
The only thing that was less than satisfactory was the exterior of the building. It shares a lot with Dunkin' Donuts. This may however serve a purpose as it makes you less sad to leave as you look longingly back over your shoulder.
I would recommend this place to anyone who likes Thai food. It is a very nice general event restaurant, classy enough for a date but relaxed enough for family and friends. Perhaps most importantly it has a full bar. Make it a point to go, you'll be glad that you did.
Eating at Puket Cafe is an experience, not just wonderful food. The Pad Thai is the best I ever had. I LOVE the Tom Ka Kai! The staff is wonderful.. Sometimes you just find a restaurant that maybe doesn't look nice outside (next door to Dunkin Donuts) BUT LOOKS ARE DECIEVING!! The inside of Puket Cafe is decorated like a place in Thailand. I brought a friend and his girl to Puket Cafe right after they returned from Thailand. He was blown away with how authentic it looked and how wonderful the food was. Very Very similar to the food he had in Thailand. Best things to get if you don't like spicy-- they will tone it down for you or you can have it so hot you want to die.--I always ask for no spice. Funny tummy ya know. Like I said Pad Thai best I ever had ( I ve gotten it with beef and another time with shrimp and chicken.) The Thai iced tea, excellent. I did'nt care for the crab rangoon. I don't know, the chinese ones are best. The pineapple rice is very good. The tom ka kai is soup. It is my fav by far of any soup. Be careful not to order the sausage and mango salad unless you like spice. The mango salad is very spicy. good but spicy. Everytime I go I try to order something different. For dessert, you have to get the mango and sticky rice. It's going to get you hooked. You will be day dreaming about the food if you only eat there once, trust me I did. I did some snooping, I peeked in the kitchen, It was sooooo clean, I swear I couldn't believe it. I work in a kitchen and I have never seen such organization and cleanlyness. This restaurant is almost perfect. I say almost because they have no CHOCOLATE!!!! that's ok, the mango and sticky rice makes up for it. Now I can't wait to go back. The restaurant is equal in price to the area restaurants, and you get plenty to share. 1 order of pad thai fed 3 people. The wait staff is excellent, friendly and will teach you to do the little oragami things they do to the straws. Its so fun. Well I hope you have as good a time as I always do there. ENJOY!
