Stephanie Rocks! – I walked into Green Tangerine about two years ago and Stephanie cut my hair. I had been to about six places before that - all fancy, West Hartford places and could never get a quality haircut. I can't vouche for any of the other hair stylists, but if you want a quality haircut and color that matches up with the best that NY and boston have to offer, schedule with Stephanie. You won't be sorry - I promise!
Great Hairstyle – I had my hair colored and styled recently at Green Tangerine in South Windsor. I left the salon feeling the best I have in years thanks to Mary, the stylist. I went into work the next day and was showered with compliments about the new hairstyle and how it also made me look much younger. That's a great thing for someone middle-aged. It's the best I've felt in years about myself. Go to the salon and request Mary. She's got great skill and personlaity as well.
Great Salon – I went to Green Tangerine for the first time in October. I had my hair colored, higlighted and styled by Mary. She is pleasant and a great stylist. I received an unbelievable amount of compliments about my hair after I had it done. Many of my friends told me it was was the best style I've ever had. The salon was inviting and Mary made me feel very comfortable and at ease. I would highly recommend this salon and would always request Mary to do my hair.
good haircut but horrible service – I have been going to this salon for 4 years and usually had great haircuts however the customer service was always "snotty". I would ask for prices for service and given attitude when I inquired. I loved the first few haircuts but realized that I was being charged a different price everytime which didnt make sense. Also, the hair color services are not good. I got my hair dyed and my stylist didnt have time to finish so she put her "assistant" in charge. Needless to say the integrity of my hair was ruined and I needed corrective services. The stylist apologized but still charged me $200. I asked to speak to a manager and I got the run around and never got in touch with a manager. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for but I clearly did not receive the services promised so now I am switching to a different salon.
Great customer service – I went here to buy a giftcard for my girlfriend for her birthday. The guy at the desk was really nice and helped me pick out a package for her since I am totally clueless. I needed a haircut so I figured I might as well get one while I was there, so I asked the guy if there was someone available and he booked me an appointment. I ended up with a great haircut. Everyone was really nice and I'll definitely go back. Can't wait to give my girlfriend her birthday gift.
Awesome haircut! – I just moved to the area and bumped into this salon while I was checking out Evergreen Walk and doing some shopping. I went in to get prices, and the people at the desk were so nice that I decided to take a chance and get my haircut. I got put with Maria, who was amazing! She listened to what I wanted, made me feel really comfortable and gave me a great haircut! I will definitely be back!
Worst Manicure Times 2 – I have just moved to the area and need to find a great nail salon. I decided to give this place a try....bad move. The women did not file or buff my nails and the polish look like S#@&. I had to go home and take it off. I told myself I would never go back. Like a j@!# I was in a rush and needed a manicure quick so I went in again. I made sure I did not have the same girl as before. This time was just as bad. I will never go to this spa again.... NEVER.
Great for Hair/Wax, Horrible on My Nails – The two times I have been in to get my hair cut, I have had an amazing experience. Nicole was extremely personable, listened to what I wanted and to my concerns, and did an *excellent* job on my hair -- I have never received so many compliments on it. She recommended products according to what I was looking to do with my hair and was never pushy or rude.
The last time I went in, I decided to get waxed (eyebrows, lip, full brazilian) and have my nails done as well (manicure and pedicure). The wax went well - Debra did a fantastic job and I'm definitely going back to have everything done again. My manicure and pedicure, however, were a disaster.
I wasn't able to catch the name of the woman who did my nails as she hardly said anything the entire hour and a half she was working on me. I felt uncomfortable (which is a rarity for me), as if I was causing her a great disservice by being there. My nails were not buffed, which is something every other nail tech has done, and I was in great pain the entire time my cuticles were being pushed back and cut. Paying $20 for a soak, trim, cuticles, and polish was not exactly money well spent - but neither was the $60 for my toes. The polish was uneven, there were bumps and lumps, and clear polish extended past my nails and onto my fingers. My toes, while they were buffed down, suffered the same bitter end with the polish. I have never seen someone be so unprofessional in a spa/salon that seems to pride itself on its high quality of services provided, and have decided that I will save my money and do my nails myself next time, as that is what ultimately came of the experience -- I came home, peeled off the layers of polish, buffed my own nails, and re-polished them myself.
Great for hair and esthetics -- save your money and go elsewhere for nail services.
Bad experience – I have been to this salon several times for haircuts. I have long hair that is easy to style. I only get it trimmed with angles in the front, which is not a difficult cut to do. The first couple times I went, I had a different stylist each time and was happy with the result; although they didn't really give me that much attention. They were not friendly and when I wanted advice on products I felt like they didn't want to be bothered with it.
I was lucky one time and I had one stylist who did an amazing job on my hair...added a view layers in the back that gave me volume and I loved it. I went back to see the same stylist a couple months later, and I was shocked at how poorly I was treated. First she seemed annoyed that I was there because apparently she did not know I had an appointment with her. Then she called me the wrong name several times. When she asked me what I wanted I told her I wanted her to do what she did last time she cut it and gave her a detailed description in case she didn't remember. I was completely unsatisfied with the way she cut it. The angles were very uneven.....and it looked horrible. I was not able to style my hair since the angles did not curl inward like they always had in the past. I decided never to go back there again and went to another Aveda salon several months later after my hair had grown out. They stylist who cut my hair told me that my hair in the back was very uneven.......3 inches shorter on one side!!! I had no idea my hair had really been that uneven.
Overall, I would not recommend going to this salon. I thought the stylist I saw was great until I went back for a second cut. It baffles me how someone who is supposed to trained could mess up a simple cut. The customer service at the front desk is also horrible....and they are very pushy about buying products.
Okay experience for facial, good for massage – My husband bought me a gift certificate for my 40th birthday for a facial and massage. I arrived a little early and they had me fill out forms and I waited about 20 minutes before going in for my 1 hour facial. She spent about 40 minutes on me (not aware until after I left). The massage was great and she used the full time. The facial person was a bit snippy and told me all the things I was doing wrong to my skin (I believe I have lovely skin). Next time I went back, I told the story to a very lovely facial person, and she told me that person had since been fired. They need to do a much better job screening their employees. A very nice spa otherwise although those are the only services I've had there. Not cheap though.
