NOT a good representation of Cosi. I go to Cosi in West Hartford Center regularly & its fine. I went to the Avon location Sunday (6/8) at 5:30 p.m. & was informed they had no bread. Odd, but no big deal, I went elsewhere & had a great dinner. I returned the next night (I really wanted their tomato basil soup!) to find they had no bread again. I placed an order for soup & the cashier told me they had no bread (I was told by the mgr. it takes 2 hours to make & they "just ran out" sorry). When I pointed out the stack of bread on the counter, they said that was the last of it & they guessed they could find me 1 piece of multigrain if I needed it (?), I needed it, so I ordered & went outside to wait. I sat for 20 minutes without luck, went back in to ask about the order & was told they "forgot". I returned outside, sat another TEN minutes before the waitress finally arrived with my soup and a piece of bread. (she did say sorry). Shortly after, they posted a sign on the door saying they were out of bread. I watched probably 2 dozen people come & go without eating, shaking their heads in wonder: "How a restaurant that features sandwiches can run out of bread (2 days in a row!) at dinnertime?" I can't imagine the owners of the chain would be happy to hear such a potentially busy location can repeatedly run out of basic supplies (costing them money, I'm sure!) Next time I'll stick with the West Hartford Center location - Avon has fallen short before, but these 2 times were the proverbial nails in their coffin for me!
Sandwiches go gourmet at this quick-service chain known for its wood-fire hearths and signature flat bread..
In Short
Styled to evoke the feel of a Parisian café, the focal point of each restaurant is an open-flame stone oven, which swiftly turns out thin-crust pizzas, made-to-order panini and open-faced melts on Roman-style flat bread. Fresh ingredients--including mozzarella, tomatoes, buffalo chicken and secret-recipe dressings--are used in both the sandwiches and the long list of specialty salads. Sweet treats like S'mmm.Oreos (chocolate bar, graham crackers and marshmallows with an extra-large Oreo cookie) are equally popular.
