Good Food, Consistently Overcharges $2-$4 Every Time

by Burry Cohen at Citysearch

Good sandwiches, never been sick from anything I ate here. But the staff here tends to overcharge "by mistake" - except that it consistently happens every time you go there. You always get charged at least $2 - $4 more than you should be. Be careful. Oh, btw, they don't write up your order on a ticket or anything - staff just pulls numbers out of the air when tallying your bill. Make sure you add up your bill yourself BEFORE you get to the cash register.

steve's is a nice centrally-located place to eat in newington. the food is appitizing and there is always a special serving of humor when you pick up your food. if you want to feel as tho you belong to the big family called "newington" and enjoy their chalk board of great lunches, eat at steve's. you certainly cannot resist their delicious grilled chicken grinders and i promise you, you will be going back many times in the years to come.

Grinders are Skimpy

by georgieboy12 at Citysearch

They use to put out a good sandwich but have cut down on the amount of meat they use. The last time I was there they really short changed me on the roast beef. I finally complained and they grudgingly put two slices of extra roast beef on my sandwich. They did this while making a big deal of it as if they were giving me extra. I went home and weighed the meat on a postal scale, then the next day I went to subway and bought the large roast beef for less money than the half at Steves and the subway had over twice the amount of meat in it.

They lost me as a customer as I will never go back.

Best Grinders Ever!

by LynneS618 at Citysearch

I've been going to Steve's for over 25 years now on a consistent basis... that alone is a raving review! They make excellent grinders/sandwiches. They don't skimp on their fillings either. Their meatball grinder is the best! They also offer a variety of pasta dishes, hot and cold, and a variety of soups... all homemade. The staff is very friendly and accomodating.

  • Pros: Inexpensive, Good food, Large portions
  • Cons: Not open on Sunday
