better than dominos. Great pizza, great service, very pricey. And I'll agree its not NY pizza, its related because of the thin crust thats it, but not as greasy as the chain competitors and bigger selection of toppings
Overpriced and overrated. They claim to serve "real New York-style" pizza, but I've spent a lot of time in New York (wife is a Brooklyn native), and I've never had anything like what they serve at Luna's. It's better than Pizza Hut or Domino's, but that's about as far as I'd go. And $3.50 for an average-sized slice is ridiculous -- in New York the slices are larger and cost about $2 a slice in a typical pizza joint.
Good Waitress. Hey I recently went to Luna's Pizza in West Hartford and I had excellent service. The food was excellent and I would especially like to thank Monika one of the waitstaff she was prompt, if you go ask for her
good pizza, poor service. while i have always been a fan of Luna's mozzerella pizza (which is delicious and quite addicting) it is the horrible service i recieved at their West Hartford restaurant that will make me doubt my return. The service was horrendous, to put it nicely. My date did not like their BBQ chicken pizza at all. instead of the server asking how everything was, she walked past our table several times without blinking, then argued with my date as to why we didn't stop her to tell her about the bad pizza. she then proceeded to follow us outside to tell us we forgot to tip her (apparently, after snapping at a guest, a tip was still expected). i love their mozzerella pizza, but seriously doubt if i will ever return to their West Hartford location.
From the piano to pies by the slice, this West Hartford pizza joint is full of surprises..
Only in West Hartford can you find a pizza oven and a baby grand piano in the same room. A pianist plays jazz and classical music on weekends, the perfect accompaniment for the bottles of Chardonnay on each table. Luna Pizza not only spoils customers with piano music and roses, it also proudly welcomes both Levi's and suits.
Luna Pizza rates among the best brick-oven thin-crust pizza spots in the Hartford area. An uncomplicated one-page menu lists small, medium and large pies as well as grinders and salads. Unusual seafood pizzas like salmon and tuna alla Luna are popular, but you can also get classics like pineapple and ham. Somewhat surprisingly, Luna Pizza offers slices, practically unheard of in sit-down pizza restaurants around these parts.
REAL pizza with quality ingredients. I am a regular customer of the Glastonbury location, but have also been to the original in West Hartford. Both are great. Anyone who complained about the cheese, etc. doesn't know what REAL, FRESH ingredients are (such as the mozzarella used). These people obviously don't know what quality food is. The only drawback is that Luna is somewhat expensive for a pizza...
OK Pizza, but there's better.
Luna's is overpriced and overrated. But then again, so is all of West Hartford.
Lived in town for 5 years, and ate at most of the pizza joints. It's a nice place, and the service is good, but there is much better pizza on the list (Lena's, Wooster St), and many more that never made it to the list.
Mr A. the pizza was cold and the cheese was white and curdish. They finally found a way to melt government cheese, Lunas discovered the way to do so. Dominos Pizza is by far better than Lunas.
It's a winner. I've eaten Luna Pizza in Avon, CT for several years. One of the best things that could've happened to them was to build a new restaurant. My husband had never eaten Luna Pizza until last year and now he's won over. We are both very choosy about the quality of our foods. Luna has a nice light sauce and fresh mozzarella. He loves their veggie pizza ... all fresh veggies! Wish they'd open one in Torrington.
Love Luna's!. Luna's is the best, should not be #5 in the Hartford area....fresh mozzarella, brick oven.......no beating it!
