The Scene – Only in West Hartford can you find a pizza oven and a baby grand piano in the same room. A pianist plays jazz and classical music on weekends, the perfect accompaniment for the bottles of Chardonnay on each table. Luna Pizza not only spoils customers with piano music and roses, it also proudly welcomes both Levi's and suits. – – The Food – Luna Pizza rates among the best brick-oven thin-crust pizza spots in the Hartford area. An uncomplicated one-page menu lists small, medium and large pies as well as grinders and salads. Unusual seafood pizzas like…

Hot Headed Owner - Beware!

by pizzalover98 at Citysearch

We've been customers for 10 years and have seen ups and downs. There was a period when they couldn't take credit cards or serve alcohol. We stuck with them until now. Tonight we ordered a salad, pizza, and wine. After almost 15 minutes there was no salad. Had to get up and ask the waitress for it. After it came, the pizza arrived 2 minutes later. Crust was so soggy, it was not eatable. Got up to ask waitress to take it back, when a guy who was eating at one of the tables got up and said he was the owner. He looked at our pizza and said he'd re-heat it. He seemed annoyed. I told him we didn't want a re-heated pizza and he very begrudgingly agreed to make a fresh pizza. I asked him for a complementary glass of wine while we waited, and he became incensed. He said he was going to offer the wine, but since I asked for it, we couldn't have it. I recounted the problem with the salad and the pizza, and also remarked about his poor attitude. I told him that we expected good service, but weren't getting it. He told me that they were not servants. I told him we were leaving. He said good, you can go next door to Harry's Pizza, that they have good pizza there. That's what I intend to do in the future, never returning to Luna. This owner guy needs some anger management therapy. P.S. The writeup that says there's a piano at Luna's is wrong. There was in the beginning, but it's been gone for years.

First time there

by Lunascam at Citysearch

I stopped by and I ordered a small cheese pizza to go and they automatically charged 10% for the tip. I don't know if you've gone into Mcdonalds before, but I don't remember them charging 10% on an order to go. Then the crust on part of the pizza was partially burned.

bad manager

by 45ebwn at Citysearch

the manager Matt is extremely rude. we have been faithful customers, ordering pizza almost weekly; however, we are tired of the bad customer service. They mistakenly put us down for a pickup when we requested a delivery. When we inquired where our pizza was & when it would be delivered, he rudely stated that we need to pick it up & that even though they had a mistake, we should have known as they had not requested our delivery address. Since we are regular customers & always ask for a delivery, we assumed they knew our address. He wanted us to pick up the cold pizza. we are now ordering our pizza weekly from Harry's and we suggest others to do likewise.

  • Pros: decent pizza
  • Cons: rude manager; bad delivery service; Recommend Harry's Pizza

Disappointed

by pizza girl at Citysearch

Called Luna Pizza, said I wanted a pizza for DELIVERY and the lady took my order and then when the order didn't come I called to check and they said I had called the regular phone number and it wasn't delivery so they wanted me to pick up the pizza they made an hour ago for me that they didn't deliver. The manager Alex was very unprofessional and argumentative and I will not eat there again!

bring back the wood

by tonyyy at Citysearch

i must say i cant figure out all the negative write ups on this place i have eaten a lot of their pies.... most from their first building in hartford which was a real brick oven .. i can imagine someone calling the ingredients poor quality .it is fine if you dont like the style or just not for you but as far as the ingredients i have not been to a place which has as fresh of ingredients .. that said ... when they had the wood oven in hartford it was unbelieable .. even with out the smokey wood flavor the pizza would get it is still the best italian thin crust i have had ..my pizza of choice so you know where i am coming from .. pepperoni garli .. or would add ricotta at times .. yummy and have to eat it there right out of the oven .. dont compair it to a pan pie or a thick pie it is a different animal

  • Pros: pizza pizza pizza
  • Cons: no wood oven anymore
