Cheng Who?????. The food is ok, not great, not insprired, but tasty. There is nothing on the menue that stands out. I think the quality has slipped some since the move to Elmwood. Servers seem distracted from the task at hand.

You can't beat The Du. ChengDu is the best Chinese food experience in CT! Yes, it's expensive, but the portions are large and every dish (from soup to dinner entree) is truly "gourmet". Also, don't forget, this is West Hartford...where nothing is cheap! If you're looking for a quiet dining experience, the dining room is large and very relaxing. While the bar area is always upbeat and lively. Both sides are well designed and stylishly appointed. The bar (dubbed "J Lounge") features a long, beautiful wood bar, a 50" plasma HDTV, a very well-stocked and diverse liquor selection, 2 tables by the window and a low-slung leather couch that stretches the entire length of the back wall (which comes in handy, because the bar is often filled to capacity). The drinks are reasonably priced, and there's a happy hour from 4-7 on weeknights. Dimly lit and (usually) filled with friendly, colorful regulars, the bar area is never a boring place to be. To completely round out the ChengDu bar experience, you will be served by either Albert (owner, friendliest bartender of all time) or his son Albert Jr. (very nice, intelligent and fun to talk to). Great food, great bar, great people and the two Albert's, no joke, you won't find a better Chinese place than ChengDu in the entire state of CT! Trust me on this one, The Du is our home away from home.

Best Chinese in CT DELIVERS!. Moving to CT from Boston, I had very high standards when I comes to Chinese food, (Boston Chinatown the best Chinese food on the East Coast). I tried Chengdu and it was amazing! Their menu has a vast amount of dishes to choose from as well as drinks. I just learned they deliver now through a new delivery service Waiter Wheels 860236DINE. I googled hartford delivery and I was so happy to find them, which is a lifesaver because I can never get to WH when I am downtown. SO AWESOME!

Best Chinese food all of CT. I recently read a great article in the Hartford Courant regardinging Chengdu. My friends & I decided to try the place out, And let me tell you they the best chinese food around with some very unique dishes. We were also blown away with their spectacular drink menu. They also had a beautiful with some hot bartenders that makes great drinks

A WINNER. I recently relocated to the Hartford area from San Fran. and was longing for some really good Chinese food. Some friends of mine recommended Chengdu. So I gave it a shot, I was pleasently surprised. A beautiful restaurant & the food was great which reminded of home. They also have a beautiful lounge area to enjoy a unique and delicious drink menu. The wait staff service is average, but the bar staff was great and very eye appealing might I add.

Chengdu is Cheng-New. We long for the old days when this restaurant ruled the Chinese scene in West Hartford. Moved to glitzy new digs on Park Road, the glitz can't make up for the decline in food and service. The good thing we can say is that the drinks are good (not so in its old incarnation). The food is the usual salty Chinese Restaurant fare, with a lack of any creativity when it comes to Chef's Specials. The bar habitues are a peculiar, interesting bunch. You'll need to wait with them on a busy night. Service was laughable at times (imagine forgetting cutlery even after being reminded - leaving us barehanded with hot appetizers).

the best food!. Absolutley the best chinese food in the state. Great eat in or take out. Service is wonderful. Treat you like you are a queen. The food is the best. Great drinks too.
