BEWARE! We have bought several appliances from the North Haven store (who are nice people) but when we needed service the repair man who came told us that we would have to pay extra for the repair even though it is covered by insurance and refused to repair unless we gave him more money. The boss in Hartford is the only person worse than the repair man -- both were extremely rude -- he said he stands by his guys and basically wouldn't get the repair done. Both these guys were threatening and shouldn't be allowed to be in business. WORST company we have ever dealt with!! Stay away from them.
Don't go if it's the last place on earth.
Disgusting level of service at SK Lavery in West Hartford. The owner, Bruce, is a horrible business man. All he's interested in is taking your money, and kicking you the curb. They will charge you for a diagnosis if you have a problem with your appliance, but they WON'T fix the problem. Instead, they'll come back and charge you another diagnosis fee.
I honestly don't know how this business survives when they have no idea how to treat customers. Save yourself the grief and go anywhere else but SK Lavery!
Very poor service.
I have had very bad experiences with them. I have bought two applicances from them. The first time they put a very large gouge in my front door jam. The second time they put a very deep gouge in a door that essentially ruined it, and also one in the hardwood floor. I had to call numerous times over a period of months to get someone to address the issue. They always told me I had to speak with the owner, who was never in the office and never returned calls or e-mails. They did a very shoddy job of installing a $7,000 refrigerator. They just want to use the cheapest labor possible, install the appliance as fast a possible and get you to sign off on the delivery rather than take an extry few minutes to protect doors and floors and do a complete installation. If you can find the applicance you want at Home Depot you will get much better service from them.
The salesperson was very friendly.
Nice showroom - most incompetent service....
I have bought several large appliances over the years from them - only to regret later, when service was needed. - It's very hard to schedule an appointment - then they don't show up or cancel last minute.
- They show up, but the replacement part is wrong
- They damaged the floor and cabinets.
Be prepared for turn-around times of 3-8 weeks and rude service. Beats my mind how they stay in business...
No customer service.
We bought a Bosch dishwasher and, on the very first wash, a smell like gasoline filled the house. We thought that perhaps one of our cars' gas tanks had failed, but we eventually traced the strong smell to the dishwasher.
We called S.K.Lavery and were treated as if we were crazy (as if we said we smelled gasoline rather than an odor _like_ gasoline. They sent a service man out who said he hadn't even brought his tools along, because there was nothing he could do and there was nothing S. K. Lavery _would_ do. He advised calling the factory.
He also said that once S. K. Lavery delivers an appliance, any problems are between you and the manufacturer.
Extremely poor customer service.
Worst Service. They have such poor service and will never admit if they are wrong, but are quick to take your money. I scheduled an appointment for my washer that is leaking and couldn't get an appointment for 2 weeks. I was scheduled for first morning appointment at 9. At 9:30 I called to see what time the tech was coming out and they said they didn't have me scheduled for today at all and I was scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday) after 2:30. I mentioned that they messed up on the schedule and that the only day I could take off work is on a Monday morning. They had no concerns or care about meeting my needs even thou this was their error. I was so upset as now I need to take off tomorrow as well. Now days as hard as it is to keep a job I worry about the amount of time I have to take off work because of their screw up. They need to have someone who does the scheduling that is capable of it. This isn't the first time this has happened to me, but I didn't think it would happen again. Was I blind. After they fix my washer I have no plans of using them ever again for anything! I will ask around and go by word of mouth of someone realiable.
did i shop at the same place?????.
this is the second appliance i have purchased from SK lavery...i purchased a stove last year...which, by the way, is still running...and several weeks ago, a dryer....the only glitch i encountered was the dryer i purchased was too wide for my basement! i called, the sales person suggested another dryer that would fit and 3 days later i was drying clothes!
i think they're great...they are in town, local and small and their prices are on par to anything you would find in a mall or larger store...
shop local...it makes sense!
The worst customer service ever!. Bought an Amana fridge about one year ago. Purchase went well and sales staff were helpful. I had purchased the extended warranty as well. About one year later the fridge stopped working. I called SK lavery expecting a reasonable response time to get my fridge fixed. After waiting over a week for a part I had to call up the part distributor myself and overnight it. This was done after waiting 10 days for SK Lavery to order the part. Now I did not want to lose my cool so I called the owner, Bob Lavery, who was unhelpful to say the least. He remarked that 10 days was unreasonable and I should not have to wait that long. After sympathising with me he passed the buck and said I should be the one calling to make sure the repairmen come and fix the fridge. OK... fine I though; at this point just fix the damn fridge it's not rocket science. A few days later the repairmen came and fixed the fridge with the part I had sent to my house. Worked fine for 1 day. Then it quit on me again. Alright let's be reasonable and call up Bob again, maybe he can make something happen. Mr. Lavery replied, "You are over reacting you only have a broken refridgerator and are not on life support!" I asked if he could guarentee that my fridge would be fixed he also replied, "the only thing I can guarentee is death and taxes."
Very poor customer service on new purchases. Once it is in your home they do not care..
This is the first time I have ever written a review like this but this company has frustrated me more than any before. And since I have time as I sit after finding out they are not showing for a service call I took a half day off for I had to warn others.
I purchased a refrigerator from SK Lavery and at delivery the doors were scratched. It is 6 months later and the problem has not been solved. A serviceman came 8 weeks after purchase with 2 replacement skins for the doors. One had a dent in it and the serviceman said he would order a new one and be back to put it in. That was 4 months, a dozen phone calls, and a no-show appointment ago. The no show was today and they do not know if they have the part. This is after confirming with me they had the part last week and would be here this AM to put it in. Of course I had to take a half day off to be available from 9 to 12. I called at 10 to check and was told I would be called back, at 10:30 called again and told I was not on schedule. Called again at 10:45 told they would get back to me and they did not know if they had the part.
6 MONTHS. Constant follow up on my part and terrible service on their part.
Anyone can cut a price a few dollars on an appliance. Taking time off from work for no reason and the time involved with keeping on them combined with a brand new appliance looking like a scratch and dent purchase for the first six months (and counting) far out weighs a few dollars saved.
BEWARE, if things go right it will not be an issue. If there is any problem then you will regret buying here just as I am doing.
Horrible customer service- lack of organization.
Had challenges working with SK Lavery from the beginning- I inherited them from previous homeowners. Had a technician come out (nice tech BTW) identified the problems and went back to the office. I didn't hear anything back until 8 weeks later when I called them- they lost my info and paperwork- no parts ordered yet. They ordered parts required (4 day lead time) and don't call back for another three weeks. Make an appointment to be here for the repairs (finally). Tech goes home sick- and no one to back him up! I take a full day from my busy schedule to wait for this! These guys are worse than waiting for the cable guy. When you call SK Lavery regarding your concerns they don't care and act like it's no skin off their back. What happened to go old fashioned customer service?? I understand things occur beyond control- they just have no intention of making you feel like they care or are trying to help.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND S.K. LAVERY!
