by foodgoddess
this is the second appliance i have purchased from SK lavery...i purchased a stove last year...which, by the way, is still running...and several weeks ago, a dryer....the only glitch i encountered was the dryer i purchased was too wide for my basement! i called, the sales person suggested another dryer that would fit and 3 days later i was drying clothes!
i think they're great...they are in town, local and small and their prices are on par to anything you would find in a mall or larger store...
shop local...it makes sense!
- Pros: free delivery and modest charge for pick up
The worst customer service ever!

Bought an Amana fridge about one year ago. Purchase went well and sales staff were helpful. I had purchased the extended warranty as well. About one year later the fridge stopped working. I called SK lavery expecting a reasonable response time to get my fridge fixed. After waiting over a week for a part I had to call up the part distributor myself and overnight it. This was done after waiting 10 days for SK Lavery to order the part. Now I did not want to lose my cool so I called the owner, Bob Lavery, who was unhelpful to say the least. He remarked that 10 days was unreasonable and I should not have to wait that long. After sympathising with me he passed the buck and said I should be the one calling to make sure the repairmen come and fix the fridge. OK... fine I though; at this point just fix the damn fridge it's not rocket science. A few days later the repairmen came and fixed the fridge with the part I had sent to my house. Worked fine for 1 day. Then it quit on me again. Alright let's be reasonable and call up Bob again, maybe he can make something happen. Mr. Lavery replied, "You are over reacting you only have a broken refridgerator and are not on life support!" I asked if he could guarentee that my fridge would be fixed he also replied, "the only thing I can guarentee is death and taxes."
- Pros: if you have a lot of time to waste shop here
- Cons: customer service like I have never experienced before
Very poor customer service on new purchases. Once it is in your home they do not care.

This is the first time I have ever written a review like this but this company has frustrated me more than any before. And since I have time as I sit after finding out they are not showing for a service call I took a half day off for I had to warn others.
I purchased a refrigerator from SK Lavery and at delivery the doors were scratched. It is 6 months later and the problem has not been solved. A serviceman came 8 weeks after purchase with 2 replacement skins for the doors. One had a dent in it and the serviceman said he would order a new one and be back to put it in. That was 4 months, a dozen phone calls, and a no-show appointment ago. The no show was today and they do not know if they have the part. This is after confirming with me they had the part last week and would be here this AM to put it in. Of course I had to take a half day off to be available from 9 to 12. I called at 10 to check and was told I would be called back, at 10:30 called again and told I was not on schedule. Called again at 10:45 told they would get back to me and they did not know if they had the part.
6 MONTHS. Constant follow up on my part and terrible service on their part.
Anyone can cut a price a few dollars on an appliance. Taking time off from work for no reason and the time involved with keeping on them combined with a brand new appliance looking like a scratch and dent purchase for the first six months (and counting) far out weighs a few dollars saved.
BEWARE, if things go right it will not be an issue. If there is any problem then you will regret buying here just as I am doing.
- Pros: Hard to think of any after 6 months of waiting
- Cons: Terrible service on new purchase
