This concentrated collection tells the story of the state of Connecticut. Definitely worth the trip..
The Scene
Located in the same building that houses the Connecticut Supreme Court and the Connecticut State Library, this gem of a museum is one of the state's best-kept secrets.
The Collection
Covering the walls of the main hall are portraits of every one of Connecticut's past governors, including the royal governors from colonial days. There are various exhibits related to Connecticut's Charter Oak, but the centerpiece of the museum is the Royal Charter, issued by King Charles II. The museum also contains the revised state constitution of 1818. Since Connecticut is noted for its manufacturing, the museum devotes some rooms to various products made in the state. Those interested in firearms will enjoy the Colt Firearms Collection, where most of the company's models are on display.
