The Scene
The antidote to hifalutin see-and-be-seen eateries, Mo's old-fashioned counter attracts artists, business types, college students and wanderers to its swivel seats. The dinerlike atmosphere gets a funky feel from the robotlike sculptures (made locally from recycled trash) hanging above the cozy booths.
The Food
Coming here and not ordering pancakes is like skipping steak at Morton's. Made with fresh buttermilk, wheat flour and wheat germ, Mo's flavorful flapjacks can be fixed up with your choice of cranberries, strawberries, pineapple, blueberries, chocolate chips and more. The ample-sized jacks droop off the edges of the plate, so even the solo serving (one pancake) can be enough for moderate appetites. Passing on the pancakes? Try spicy, cheddar-topped huevos rancheros or Mo's classic omelet packed with fresh spinach, mushrooms and cheese instead. The sizzling grill even turns out burgers and club sandwiches.

I'm not sure what the hype is about...sure, it's cheap, but so what? I guess it depends if you're happy with "Friendly's" caliber or not. The home fries were nothing to write home about, and the omelette (jambalya) was ok, but nothing special. Coffee is extremely weak. One reviewer mentioned that portions are HUGE, can't fit on the plates...is it possible that it's due to small plates? Yep. On the plus side, the atmosphere was cute. If you make it to Northampton, MA, Sylvester's still reigns supreme...make sure to know that it'll be a wait, especially on weekends.

Pros: Cheap as hell, interesting atmosphere Cons: What's the point of eating out if it's not great?!

I went to Mo's for breakfast on a saturday and the place was pretty crowded. I got huevos rancheros which is a mexican dish with eggs, salsa, beans, and tortillas which was very good. The menu is pretty limited but the food is solid. I would recommend it to those who are looking for a good but not so fancy breakfast. They also have lunch.
