Great music and awesome atmosphere in this place. The macaroni and cheese is fantabulous..... I would make the 2 and a half hour drive from NY just to have that mac n cheese again :)
Many thanks for the great job you all did at our stag party. A great time was had by one and all. Also I appreciated the comments from your staff about our guests.
This place has great atmosphere, great beer (brewed in house) and amazing food!! Reuben burger is out of this world. Homemade thousand island dressing is a must with any entré.
I'm not a big fan of bars, but even I can walk in here and have a great time. I've been here for at least 3 seperate parties and they were great each time. It was also part of the "pub crawl" for my bachelorette party years ago. We had a blast!!
Good Dark Beers. A medley of (good) dark beers in one location is a rare and coveted commodity. So, in discovering City Steam offers this very thing, I latched on like my life depended on it.
Good Food. Food is good. I especialy like the fried fish (it's salmon!) and the chicken/cheddar/bacon sandwich. Desserts are good too. Beer is good and I always enjoy their mixed drinks (good bartenders here).
A great meal!. I wanted to thank you for the great meal you provided for my Mexican Project team. The beers were matched perfectly with each course. The meal, appetizers and desert were fantastic. Those were probably the best braised ribs weve had in our travels, including Texas and Memphis. The service was courteous and impeccable. The Richardson Room provided the ambiance we were looking for. Each of the participants left feeling that they had enjoyed a very special thank you evening.
Awesome food and even better beer!.
City Steam is a great place to meet up with 1-2 friends or 20! There beer is always flowing and you can't go wrong with a Naughty Nurse (their signature beer). The beer is such a hit that they started to bottle it and sell it in a six-pack. Tastes great either way.
After you stuff yourself with the great food and beer, head downstairs to the comedy club where you will totally laugh your "you know what" off... Seriously, I never saw a bad show there.
They have at least five flat screen TVs showing all the games. If a game isn't on, simply ask the bartender and they'll be glad to change channels.
One word of caution though, if there is a UCONN game (Men's or Women's) the place is packed! Better get there early for the best seat.
This is a mandatory stop if you are near downtown!.
City Steam is one of the very best brew pubs in Connecticut. If you love beer this is the place for you. They have a wide offering ranging from lights to darks that are available in pints, pitchers or something they call a beer bong (you need 3 people for this table-side treat). When you decide on a favorite, you can even bring home a growler or two. How great is that?
Their bartenders are friendly, funny, and most importantly skilled. I haven't had a martini there yet that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. Their specialty drinks change frequently so there is always an opportunity for adventure.
If you're looking for decent food at great price this is the place. The burgers are the best in the downtown area. If you are a regular like me (yes I'm a mug club member), their meal menu changes frequently so there's always something new from the kitchen. Their ever changing fish and pasta dishes are always a hit. Don't forget their comfort foods. Lisa's Ice Cream Pie is meant to be shared with a loved one. An absolute favorite since they opened!
