Tips for Somers Inn Restaurant

Very Disappointed!!. I had called for reservations on a Sunday afternoon but there was no reason to, there was only one other couple in the whole restaurant. It used to be lovely, with beautiful table settings and wonderful food but now I have eaten at diners with that had more flair and definitely more taste. At this price range they are extremely under par. Not only was the food prepared overcooked, as in my scallops or the other extreme, a practically raw steak when ordered medium. When we complained about the steak, we were offered an off hand apology. At this price level fish should be fresh not frozen and I really hate plastic dishes on my plate when we are supposed to be having a fine dining experience. It is also embarrassing when you are taking other people out to dinner and have told them what a wonderful place you are taking them to and have everyone disappointed.

Must have been a different restaurant!. Recently dined at the Inn and was treated to a wonderful night out! Our party of six were seated promptly, and cocktails were before us in no time. My shrimp app. of 4 jumbo shrimp were just that, and their were no complaints from the other guests. My main of whole belly clams were cooked to perfection, and the three vea oscars that were across the table from me looked devine! Plenty of sides accompanied all the mains, and all were nicely done, not just thrown out there to fill up the table. A nice selection of desserts to end the meal and my spainish coffee was also excellent. I can't believe that other persons scathing review, although it was written back in '02. I give the Inn 4 out of 5, just because nobody gets a five. Give it a try, you will not be dissapointed.

Save your money. This place served us the most disgusting food I have been served in years and it was very pricy. The salmon was very overcooked - my thoughts were it was reheated. The vegetables - were served with a ladle of fat poured over them and overcooked - plus I asked for extra vegetables and received 3 asparagus spears!! When I complained the owner sent the waitress over to tell me I didn't know how Salmon should be cooked. I suggest the Somers Inn Chef attend cooking school in Burlington, VT and learn how Salmon is to be cooked. DON'T BOTHER AND GO SOME PLACE ELSE!!!
