Fried Cheese?????. Do you love cheese? Come in an try the Glens fried cheese with a grilled English Muffin. Do you love cole slaw well I think the Glen's is the best. When I am passing through or visiting CT my vehicle takes me to the Glen. I've eaten here 100's of times and not once had a bad expierence. I'm a big fan of their breakfast, good coffee, bacon, egg, fried cheese and a grilled english muffin. No better way to start the day for this large mammal.

Incredible Fried Cheese Hamburgers.. I love this restaurant, ice-cream shop, and the late 60's decor. It is a unique and fun place to have a meal or just ice-ream!

All the employees are kind and friendly!

I had never heard of fried cheese so I tried it, the hamburgers are the best as they are but the fried cheese on them tops the scale!

I take guests (family & friends) from out of town to Shady Glen because it is such a unique restaurant, all have loved it!

Enjoy, and I know you will!

The best secret in Connecticut. When I happened upon Shady Glen yesterday I thought "How is it possible to have lived in CT the past 35 years and never heard of this wonderful place! Shady Glen is a great throwback to the 50's - when life was simpler.

Each male employer was wearing a Shady Glen hat, and every female a forest green dress! The menu is on the wall and the place is bustling. Customers are friendly. I asked the man next to me for a recommendation and he didn't hesitate to recommend the cheeseburger! However, I'm allergic to cheese and in the mood for soup so I ordered the Minestrone even though I've not always had great luck with that title at other restaurants. Was I in for a pleasant surprise! It was full of fresh vegetables and chopped up beef - absolutely delicious! I hadn't intended to have more, but after that treat I ordered a hamburger. Wow! I'd forgotten what a real hamburger can taste like when the lettuce and tomato and onion are fresh!

I'll be bringing my friends to Shady Glen soon!

Best comfort food around. I've been eating at The Glen for well over 50 years off and on. I would be there more if I still lived in the area. But believe me it is a stop I always make when I'm near Manchester. The Cheeseburger is a Master piece. The Ice cream superb. I even bring people from other states with me and they can't wait to get back. Even the setting is great.

DON'T MISS THIS IF YOU ARE NEARBY

Can't go wrong with Shady Glen!!. I love this place. Ever since I was a kid I remember eating here. Every time I go there I must order the same things. Cheese Burger(so good with the cheese cooked on the grill and stiff enough to hold up the bun), Side order cheese grilled, milk shake, and the very best onion rings. Oh and the pickles are really good too. To top it off have some butter crunch or grape nut ice cream. Yum!!

Better the Louies Lunch Burgers. I have lived in the area all my life and Shady Glen has always been the best burgers around. And their ice cream is as close to home made you are every going to get. Where else can you get Pumpkin ice cream

I work with people from New Haven and they rave about Louies Lunch the place where the hamburger was born (or so they claim). Well they don't allow any type of condiments on their burgers and still charge you $4.95. At Shady Glen at least you get the serving dish with your choices.

Only complaint I have about Shady Glen is sometimes there isn't enough seating. But this is the price you pay for getting good food I guess

Cheeseburger. Shady Glen opened in 1948. That was when my family started eating there. I have lived in every section of this contry and have eaten some excellent cheeseburgers. Hwoever, none compare with Shady Glen's. Sure, they cost a little more but, if you want excellent tasting food, excellent service, a clean restaurant and clean-cut employees - this is the best. At Shady Glen, you can eat your heart out. And, the ice cream is great, too.

the only place i eat when i go to manchester!!!. I grew up in manchester until i was 10 and go back every so often to see family and this place is exactly the same as it was when i was a kid. The best cheeseburgers in the world (with the cheese crispy hanging off the sides) how do they do it?! They now have lobster rolls which are to die for, and you have to have icecream or a shake. Can't even pick a favorite flavor because they are all good!!!
