A Restaurant in Rapid Decline.
My wife and I had been to Toshi several dozen times over the course of the last decade. About a year ago this restaurant began to change; and change for the worse! Each of our last three visits over the course of the last year has been successively worse. Last evening was the one that made us decide never to return. The food was abysmal (they actualy put my Shrimp Tempura Maki Roll in the microwave -- and the waiter was proud of that), the service was poor and unattentive (amazing for a Japanese restaurant), our order arrived in disjointed pieces so that our party ate at different times, drinks were diluted (the wine that a friend had was obviously diluted -- he is a sommalier at a NYC restaurant and he knows the taste and fabric of the wine that he ordered!), and the overall experience was just miserable. Believed it or not we all went to another restaurant "for a decent dinner" after we left Toshi..
I certainly will never return, and might I suggest that all of you follow suit! I am hopeful that this restaurant will change hands soon so that it can become, once again, what it once was. It certainly isn't anything to bother with right now.

My favorite sushi restaurant. I love Toshi.
Toshi is definitely the best in the area. I've tried most of the other sushi restaurants, but I always like Toshi the best. It has the best atmosphere and a classically trained Japanese sushi cheff, Hiro. In addition to all their sushi and rolls, I really love their "karaage" (Japanese fried chicken), which is not what you usually think of getting at a Japanese restaurant, but it's out of this world. You should try it.

Great Sushi, good for partys, get the albacore tuna..
This was a plesant surprise for a local restauraunt, authentic sushi just down the road.
I've had quite a bit of sushi in my day. Osaka's in Northampton is the next best/closest sushi from Western Mass. Great, great selection of wine, beer sake. Loved the appetizers(spicy Scallop) very tasty.
Sushi selection very good. Recommend any thing with tuna, eel or avacado.
Great green tea.
Will recommend.

Great Japanese food for 10 years..
If you are in search of a family-friendly sushi/japanese restaurant in Hartford area, Toshi is the place to go. Do not stick to the familiar tuna and the rolls.
