Editorial Review for Max a Mia – by Michele McCole Moss

The Scene
Don't expect too much flash or flair here. This Max (one of four) is a family-friendly, casual spot with upscale food. The spacious dining room is divided by a bar area that's heavily populated with the after-work crowd. It can get noisy during peak hours, but the food is worth the trouble.

The Food
Dig into the complimentary herb-crusted bread with soft-roasted garlic while you decide on a main course. Stone pies (pizzas) come with everything from goat cheese and prosciutto di Parma to broccoli rabe and fennel sausage. Risotto with duck confit and dried cherries, gnocchi in a fresh English pea sauce and veal with Madeira wine sauce are just a few of the nonpizza entrees. Whatever your main course, a bowl of gelato will end the meal on a sweet note.

Insider Tips

For Tiny Tummies

The stone pie per bambini or pasta per bambini is just the right size for little ones, and without those yucky adult ingredients.

Dining al Fresco

In the summer, you can twirl your spaghetti outside.

We have been coming to Max A Mia for four years now. The food is always consistent and excellent and so is the service. They are always extremely busy so even with a reservation there is sometimes a wait. It's called patience! And the food and service are well worth it. The staff is always wonderful...we have never had a bad experience there. Don't listen to that one negative review!

We had the worst experience ever. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Waiting 50 minutes when we had a reservation? Never again. And the staff were really rude.

Pros: None

Cons: Rude staff, long waits
