Outstanding.
07/10 Last night my wife and I had an excellent meal ordering off the $20.10 Taste of Hartford menu (TOH). We made advance reservations through OpenTable and were seated promptly in a booth. Our waitress welcomed us by name and provided the regular menus, but quickly retrieved the TOH menu upon request. Our meal started off with a loaf of onion bread - crusty and right out of the oven. We each ordered Caesar salad which were more than ample with neither of us finishing. Both of us ordered the single cut filet mignon done medium rare. It was cooked perfectly, probably 6 ounces and fork tender. We shared generous orders of garlic harcourt verts and mashed potatoes. Fortunately we saved room for the best double chocolate mousse I have ever consumed. Service throughout was excellent.

Horrible Service - Average Steaks.
We all know about mortons and the service. Everyone knows its a complete joke. I dont know who they think they are. Either that are rushed or miss managed, something.
The steak is fine. Is it worth the 44 dollars for the filet, maybe, but the 950 desserts are a joke, the 1050 mac and cheese are a joke. I guarantee they will MESS YOUR ORDER UP. I have been here 3 times. Not once have they gotten it correct. And I am usually at places like Carabbas. I am not being picky. Cold steak, forgotten sides, missing waiters.
The place is so not worth your money. its more to be "seen" then to actually eat.
They get by with the pricing and reputation. Anyone who says they are great doesn't go out enough.
And do they care? NO!!!

USDA prime beef, elegant tableside service and mammoth martinis..
In Short
With its dark wood details, celebrity photos and tuxedo-clad waiters, this upscale steakhouse chain has the air of a posh men's club. Service is professional and discreet, with bartenders making a mean martini. Dinners begin with a waiter-driven cart laden with fresh vegetables, live lobster and cuts of steak; customers choose from porterhouse, rib-eye, bone-in prime rib and more. Side dishes are traditional and enormous, from baked potatoes and creamed spinach to steamed broccoli with hollandaise.

Creme de la Creme!.
I took my best friend to Morton's to celebrate her new job. What an incredible time we had. Our server, Richard was very attentive and made a lot of great suggestions. I had the Chicago style Ribeye on the bone and my friend had the filet , which was huge! We started with Crab Cakes, which were the best I've had and then split a salad. For dessert Richard suggested the Hot Lava Cake which we were going to split. Then the maitre'd came by with a tray of complimentary after dinner drinks and we ordered the Creme Brulee to go with them!. We had our share of "Mortinis" . I had the Pomegranate. Yum! And the cherry on the cake was the photo taken of us at the table and then presented in a card.
We were totally impressed!

Great Steak, HORRIBLE SERVICE.
Everyone knows Morton's has wonderdul steak, but the service has been awful the last few visits. My order was not correct and then served to the wrong people, they forgot our drinks, they didn't pull out our chairs, and the bill was wrong twice. When at such a nice place, you expect to pay for great service, but all we got was a mess. Never going back to the Morton's in Hartford again. Save your money for people who appreciate it.

To die for. As a matter of fact, someone did die there choking on a piece of steak a couple of months ago.

Really impressed!.
I've overlooked Morton's for too long. What was I thinking? This place is great. The food is top notch & the waiters & bartenders are fabulous & knowledgable. Every bite of my dinner was tasty & fresh. The lobster bisque is unbelieveable. Morton's has an extensive wine list. Definitely check it out. The entrance on Main Street right next to the Old State House - not easy to spot from the street, but once you find the heavy wooden front door, it makes you feel like you are entering a secret club. The dimly lit entry way and bar back this up. We sat in a cozy booth with a view of the whole restaurant. They also have private rooms for large parties / meetings. Here's a secret: they serve free sirlon burgers Mon - Fri from 5pm - 7pm @ the bar. Mmmm!

Service Like No Other, Steaks That Melt In Your Mouth, Did I Mention The Service???.
<based on a 12/21 visit> I don't need to begin this by saying the same thing everyone else does when reviewing Morton's, about the cart being wheeled before you and the bustle of this staple steak house. You just don't get this kind of service anywhere these days, it is perfection, almost unfair to any other server trying to work at any other restaurant. From the friendly hostess, to the tuxedo clad manager Scott. Their focus on excellence must be relentless, our server had just finished being trained a few days earlier and he took care of everthing meticulously until the very end. The food was also perfect, prime steaks cooked to exactly medium rare and creamy mashed potatoes, all the way up to the warm chocolate cake. If perfect dining is what you seek, seek reservations, the only ones who knock this top notch eatery are the ones who don't expect how hard they get it in the pocket when they sit down. But it is worth every benjamin.

overrated....
maybe because I am used to Peter Luger and The Palm, i was let down quite a bit... after getting seated next to the host stand in a half empty restaurant, we were presented with bland lobster bisque, and a colossal shimp cocktail that was more average in size. and the cocktail sause had relish in it, no horseradish was served, and when it was asked for, it was dry as a bone. the double cut porterhouse, requested pink in the middle was served bloody... prolly not going back, maybe just for a good martini...

For shame....
I've been delighted at Morton's Lower Manhattan and Chicago steakhouses. They're doing their name a disservice in Hartford. There are at least two great restaurants in downtown Hartford with better steaks. I was shocked that they screwed up a filet. The potatoes lyonnaise were worse than bad-diner-home-fries. The service, however, was impeccable. This was some of the finest service we've received in Connecticut. We'll be back; sometimes karma conspires to make a one-in-a-thousand situation occur.
